This network was established with the aim of raising the critical discourse around dance as an object of inquiry in the histories of Africa.  Enact Arts is proud to be partnering with the network. Our role is to support the activities of the network and increase its reach.

The network was founded by co-investigators Dr Zoë Groves, University of Leicester, and the late Dr Cécile Feza Bushidi then based Barnard College, University of Columbia. Dr ‘Funmi Adewole Elliott joined as an organiser and main partner in October 2021. In 2025, Dr Elizabeth Claire and Dr Mirelle Fore Chamba Nana joined the leadership of the network.
